Keep A Look Out for Vandalism!
By Jasmine Sim

Last night, Jon Yen, 25, witnessed some car vandalism
happening at Blk 10 multi-storey carpark.
A silver Toyota Vios was being scratched at the side of the car,
a black honda corona was being sprayed with paint and at the same
time, A black Hyundai Genesis was being vandalised with
paint at the front of the car.

Mr Tan Bee Wee, a 19 years old rp student witnessed a similar
car vandalism crime at around 2 months back. He was afraid to
speak up about it. But he provided the police with the appearance
of the man who was seen vandalizing cars in the neighbourhood carpark.

Vandalism crime rates in the neighbourhood has been seen
rising since 2007. A 1.3 percent increase in vandalism crime rate
from 2007 to 2008. There is a 2.5 percent decrease of crime rate
in the 1st half of year 2008, while a 3 percent increase from 2nd
half of 2008 to 2009.With the statistic published, it is obvious that
vandalism crime rate has been consistently increasing despite the measures
taken by the police force. Such as putting up posters at various bus-stops
and the pillars at MRT stations. More actions could be taken to prevent the
rising of vandalism crime rates around neighbourhood estate.
